Stephen A. Smith Suggests Phoenix Suns Should Trade Kevin Durant to the Los Angeles Lakers

Anthony Edwards’ 17-point explosion in the third quarter propelled the Minnesota Timberwolves past the struggling Phoenix Suns in a 116-98 blowout win. Edwards finished the game with 44 points, five rebounds, and seven assists. Forward Julius Randle contributed 20 points in his first game back since January 30.

The Phoenix Suns have struggled to build chemistry this year while navigating injuries, botched trades, and apparent miscommunication. Kevin Durant led the team with 26 points and 10 rebounds, while Devin Booker added 17 points and Bradley Beal 18 points, but their production has not translated into consistent winning this season.

After the team’s lackluster performance, Durant spoke to the media about the loss, which marked a new low for the tenth-place Suns.

“It’s tough, man. That’s a sh@*]! game, we didn’t play up to our standards at all,” Durant said after the game. “We embarrassed the fans, we embarrassed ourselves the way we played, and I want us to be better.”

Durant’s frustration came just after Shams Charania reported that the Phoenix Suns and Durant are expected to explore a trade this offseason. Despite the high salaries tied to Booker, Beal, and Durant, the trio has never fully meshed on the court.

With Beal holding a no-trade clause, Booker being homegrown, and Durant being the oldest of the three, it would make sense for him to be the first to move on.
