The woman who accused Jay-Z of raping her when she was 13 years old says she is standing by her claims, despite the rapper suing her and her attorney, Tony Buzbee, for defamation.
According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the woman, identified as Jane Doe, insists that while her rape lawsuit was dismissed, she has not recanted her allegations. She claims Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, is trying to intimidate her into backing down.
In the filing, Jane Doe alleges that two people claiming to be investigators for Jay-Z’s attorneys confronted her outside her home. She says they tried to pressure her into signing paperwork stating that her rape claims were false, which she refused to do. She also claims they questioned her about whether Buzbee had approached her and offered her money to go after Jay-Z, which she denied. She now says she feels threatened and unsafe and is unsure how they found her, as she has remained anonymous.
Buzbee has responded to Jay-Z’s defamation lawsuit, telling Page Six that “[Jay-Z’s team] just filed a fabricated case in Alabama claiming [Jane Doe] recanted, and she hasn’t and won’t.” He also alleged that his client has been “harassed and threatened” and that he intends to take legal action to stop Jay-Z’s legal team from contacting her.
Jane Doe originally filed a lawsuit in October 2024, accusing Sean “Diddy” Combs of raping her at an MTV Video Music Awards afterparty in 2000, along with two unnamed celebrities. She later amended the lawsuit in December, naming Jay-Z as one of the alleged perpetrators.
In the lawsuit, Jane Doe claimed Jay-Z removed her clothes, held her down, and raped her while Combs and an unidentified female celebrity watched. She also alleged that Combs raped her while Jay-Z and the female celebrity stood by.
Jay-Z has vehemently denied the allegations, calling them “heinous” and “completely false.” In a previous statement, the Roc Nation founder accused Buzbee of orchestrating a legal stunt for financial gain, saying, “What [Buzbee] had calculated was that the nature of these allegations and public scrutiny would make me want to settle.”
