Jay-Z is fighting back against the now-dismissed rape lawsuit that falsely accused him of sexual assault; claiming a private investigator uncovered proof that the Jane Doe accuser knew he wasn’t involved but was allegedly pressured by attorney Tony Buzbee to file the case anyway.
According to an affidavit filed by investigator Charlotte Henderson, the woman admitted that she originally only wanted to sue Sean “Diddy” Combs for an alleged 2000 rape but says Buzbee “pushed me” to include Jay-Z in the lawsuit.
Henderson, who met with the woman at her home in Alabama on February 21, 2025, says Jane Doe stated multiple times that Jay-Z was at the party where the alleged assault occurred but did not participate in it. Despite that, Buzbee still filed the lawsuit, which was later dropped after media outlets exposed inconsistencies in the woman’s claims.
Henderson says the woman told her that Buzbee later claimed Jay-Z was trying to kill her, which is why she ultimately dismissed the lawsuit last month. However, Henderson noted that during their conversation, Jane Doe seemed calm and not fearful, even when asked if she’d be willing to sign an affidavit clearing Jay-Z’s name.
Instead, Doe reportedly asked, “But how does this help me?”
A second investigator, Ian Pillinger, also filed an affidavit stating he discovered that Jane Doe had recently been in a mental health facility; just 90 days before Buzbee sent a legal demand to Jay-Z on her behalf.
Jay-Z has now taken legal action against both Buzbee and Jane Doe, filing lawsuits for extortion and malicious prosecution.
Attorney Tony Buzbee strongly denies the allegations, telling TMZ that Jane Doe’s case was originally referred to his firm by another law group, Ava Law Group. He claims the initial legal intake records show that Doe named both Diddy and Jay-Z as her alleged attackers before she ever spoke with him.
Buzbee insists that the accusations against him are completely false, saying, “None of the actual documentation supports that false story that Jay-Z’s team is trying to sell the public.”
With Jay-Z suing for extortion and malicious prosecution, and Buzbee denying all wrongdoing, this legal battle is far from over. The rapper is determined to clear his name, while Buzbee is standing by his actions.
As more details unfold, the case could have major implications; not just for Jay-Z, but for how high-profile lawsuits are handled in the future.
