Hannah Berner Speaks Out After Getting Dragged and Accused of Microaggressions Over “Fight” Music Comment to Megan Thee Stallion [Video]

Hannah Berner is addressing the backlash from her Vanity Fair Oscars after-party interview with Megan Thee Stallion, after fans slammed her for insensitive comments about the rapper’s music.

During the interview, Berner told Megan, “Your music has literally made me, like, when I want to fight someone, I listen to your music.” Megan quickly shut that down, responding, “You want to throw that fighting sht out the window. You want to get cute and be a bad btch.”

While Megan handled the moment with grace, fans weren’t as forgiving. Social media quickly dragged Berner, accusing her of microaggressions and questioning why she would associate Megan’s music with violence—especially given the rapper’s trauma following the Tory Lanez shooting. Many pointed out that Megan’s music is about confidence and empowerment, not fighting.

Berner has since issued a public apology, acknowledging her poor choice of words and insisting there was no ill intent.

“It was a careless choice of words and though there was no ill intent, I recognize and acknowledge that what I said has a deeper meaning and I am so sorry to Megan,” she wrote.

The controversy also raised questions about whether Berner and her co-host Paige DeSorbo were the right choices for Vanity Fair’s red carpet coverage, as the duo faced criticism for multiple awkward interview moments throughout the night.
