LaTocha Scott is shedding light on Xscape’s complicated group dynamic.

During a recent chat on “The Recap Room” with host Christal Jordan, LaTocha reflected on Kandi Burruss’ past comments regarding “Xscape: Still Kickin’ It” being a more difficult show than “The Real Housewives of Atlanta.” This was primarily due to the arguments and deep-rooted history between Burruss, LaTocha, her sister Tamika, and Tiny. LaTocha agreed that their time together in the early days of Xscape was tumultuous but shared how they managed to stick it out.
“We definitely had moments where we had to fight it out, argue it out, and that’s just a part of becoming a woman and having a sisterhood,” LaTocha explained, adding that there were several times she would lean on Tiny after fighting with her sister.
No matter how difficult things got, LaTocha admitted there was rarely anyone to intervene in the conflict, leaving the women to hash out their differences on their own.
“We really never had a person that would come in and kind of keep us together. So we literally had to figure it out. Every day was us figuring it out. And I think that made us stronger, too,” she explained.
Xscape first broke up in 1998 following the release of their third and final album, “Traces of My Lipstick.” The project achieved platinum success, but the group disbanded to pursue solo efforts. Still, they reunited throughout the years to perform. However, in 2023, LaTocha announced she would not be touring with Xscape as she embarked on a gospel career. Additionally, financial disputes with Tamika put further strain on LaTocha’s relationship with the group.
Thankfully, it seems her now-viral “Residuals” freestyle has helped bridge the gap between LaTocha and Tamika, with hopes that the rest of Xscape will follow.
