Twenty20

KFC is finally answering the prayers of potato lovers everywhere—well, at least in the Tampa, Florida area. The fast-food chain has officially announced the return of its iconic potato wedges, but there’s a catch: they’re only available for two weeks and only in select Tampa locations.

KFC discontinued the beloved potato wedges in 2020, replacing them with signature fries. The switch sparked an outcry across social media, with petitions and campaigns demanding their return. For years, fans mourned the loss, but it seems KFC is finally ready to test the waters.

“KFC Potato Wedges are one of our most requested menu items. Fans have been demanding and petitioning for them to return for five years,” said a KFC spokesperson.

So, why test the comeback in Tampa? According to KFC, the city was chosen for its representation of national fast-food consumer trends—making it an ideal location to gauge interest. Whether the wedges make a nationwide return will depend on how well they’re received during this limited test run.

Starting March 10, KFC’s crispy, fluffy potato wedges will be available exclusively at five Tampa-area restaurants for two weeks or while supplies last. They can be ordered as a side option or a la carte, but only in-person—no third-party delivery options will be available for this limited-time run.

Here are the lucky locations where fans can get their wedge fix:

  • 1605 W. Kennedy Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33606
  • 770 34th Street, N., St. Petersburg, FL 33713
  • 4402 W. Gandy Boulevard, Tampa, FL 33611
  • 3105 Havendale Boulevard, Auburndale, FL 33823
  • 1492 N. Broadway Avenue, Bartow, FL 33830

Described as hot, savory, and perfectly crispy on the outside with a soft and fluffy center, these wedges have been a fan-favorite side dish for years. If the Tampa test goes well, there’s hope that KFC’s legendary potato wedges could return to menus nationwide.
