Jazz in the Gardens (JITG) 2025 offered two days of unforgettable music, emotional tributes, and standout performances, reaffirming its status as one of the nation’s premier music festivals. The event brought together a diverse lineup of R&B legends, hip-hop icons, and reggae royalty for an experience that celebrated both music and legacy.
Ms. Lauryn Hill closed out the first night with a powerful performance that showcased her enduring influence. Opening with classics from her Grammy-winning album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill, the set turned into a family celebration as her son Zion Marley joined her on stage during “To Zion.” YG Marley followed up with his hit Praise Jah in the Moonlight and performed unreleased tracks, creating a generational moment that honored their family’s musical legacy. Doechii also popped out during Ms. Hill’s set flawlessly delivery the second version of Lauryn’s classic hit Doo Wop (That Thing) along with some of her own tracks.
Busta Rhymes also made a surprise appearance during that set, delivering his signature rapid-fire flow, while rising stars like Samara Cyn, Foggieraw, and Mannywellz showcased their unique styles, hinting at the future of music.
The night ended with a Fugees reunion as Wyclef Jean joined Hill on stage. Together, they performed classics like Killing Me Softly and Ready or Not, creating an unforgettable finale.
Earlier in the day, Coco Jones also took the stage, captivating the crowd with her latest single Taste and a heartfelt performance of ICU. Her high-energy set was followed by gospel star Tye Tribbett’s performance.
Xscape also brought timeless R&B energy on day one, performing hits like Just Kickin’ It and Do You Want To, with LaTocha Scott serenading her husband on stage. The group also created a memorable moment by inviting a fan to join them, adding a personal touch to the night.
Day two continued the momentum with Kem delivering a soulful set that emphasized connection and unity. He brought audience members into the performance and paid tribute to Angie Stone, who tragically passed earlier this month.
Beenie Man turned the festival into a Caribbean dance hall party, marking his return to the U.S. stage with an energetic performance that included suprise guest Mya.
DJ Cassidy had fans out of their seats with his Pass the Mic Live set. He brought along friends Fat Joe, Remy Ma, Ja Rule, Slick Rick and Dougie Fresh to get the crowd rocking.
Toni Braxton added a touch of elegance with a stunning performance, joined by her sister Trina. Braxton’s heartfelt tribute to Angie Stone, featuring an emotional rendition of Breathe Again, left a lasting impression.
The festival closed with New Edition, whose performance blended group classics and solo hits.
