Donald Trump is once again taking aim at the judicial system, this time in response to a ruling that forces his administration to reinstate thousands of federal workers who were unlawfully fired.
U.S. District Judge James Bredar determined that the administration’s justification of “performance issues” was not valid, ordering the reinstatement of over 24,000 probationary employees across 18 federal agencies.
Unsurprisingly, Trump was quick to fire back. In a social media post, he referred to Judge Bredar as a “Radical Left Lunatic” and accused him of being an “agitator” appointed by former President Barack Obama. Trump argued that Bredar was undermining the will of voters and called for his impeachment.
“This Radical Left Lunatic of a Judge… was sadly appointed by Barack Hussein Obama,” Trump wrote. “He didn’t WIN the popular vote, he didn’t WIN ALL SEVEN SWING STATES, he didn’t WIN 2,750 to 525 counties, HE DIDN’T WIN ANYTHING! I WON FOR MANY REASONS, IN AN OVERWHELMING MANDATE!”
Trump’s heated response comes as federal agencies struggle to comply with the ruling. While many reinstated workers are being placed on paid administrative leave, others are returning to full employment, raising logistical challenges for agencies that previously let them go. If an appellate court overturns the decision, these employees could face termination again, adding another layer of uncertainty.
Since taking office, the Trump administration has aggressively reduced the federal workforce, particularly targeting probationary employees with fewer job protections. The recent ruling marks another legal setback for his policies and intensifies the battle between the administration and the judiciary.
