Police in Memphis have confirmed that the shooting involving rapper Sauce Walka and his artist, Sayso P, was a targeted attack.
At a late-night press conference, authorities stated that CSI investigators determined both Sauce Walka and Sayso were deliberately sought out by the assailants. According to law enforcement, both rappers were outside a vehicle when multiple suspects pulled up in a four-door white car and began firing.
“There was no conversation between either party before or during the shooting,” police stated. The suspects fled the scene immediately after the attack.
Officials emphasized, “This was absolutely a targeted attack on Sauce Walka and the other victim.” They ruled out any possibility that the shooting was random.
Sauce Walka was shot in the leg and is currently hospitalized but is expected to make a full recovery. Tragically, Sayso P did not survive his injuries. A graphic video showing him lying on the ground in a bloodied t-shirt has spread across social media.
At this time, it’s unclear why the pair may have been targeted in Memphis, which is where Sayso P was from. Shortly before his death, the upcoming musician made a video inside a vehicle, stating that he was in the city where most rappers were scared to visit.
