Brooklyn rapper Sheff G is facing serious consequences after pleading guilty to attempted murder and conspiracy. The 26-year-old artist, whose real name is Michael Williams, struck a deal with prosecutors and agreed to serve five years behind bars, according to Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez.

The plea comes as part of a sweeping investigation into gang-related violence across Brooklyn. Prosecutors allege that Sheff G, a charting artist with millions of streams across platforms like YouTube and Spotify, used profits from his successful music career to support the 8 Trey Crips and their affiliate, the 9 Ways gang.

“He used his fame to fund and direct violence, terrorizing our streets,” DA Gonzalez said in a statement. “Notoriety could not shield this defendant from justice.”

The case against Sheff G is one of the most high-profile in a broader takedown that’s seen more than 30 alleged gang members indicted so far. Among them is fellow Brooklyn rapper Sleepy Hallow, real name Tegan Chambers, who was also charged in connection with the same investigation.

Prosecutors claim Sheff G played more than just a background role. According to court documents, he rewarded gang members with cash, jewelry, and other incentives as they carried out shootings against rival crews in various Brooklyn neighborhoods.
