Rapper Yella Beezy walked free from jail after his bond was reduced significantly.
The Dallas performer whose legal name is Markies Conway, was released from the Dallas County Jail Friday after posting a bail of $750,000. Originally set at $2 million, his bond was lowered during a hearing just one day prior.
Beezy faces charges in an alleged murder-for-hire plot involving the brazen 2020 killing of fellow rapper Mo3, born Melvin Noble. Mo3 was fatally shot on November 11th, 2020, after being chased on foot along I-35E. Best known for his 2018 hit “Errybody,” Mo3’s murder has remained a high-profile case, especially for its brutal nature in front of countless drivers.
Court documents allege Beezy arranged for Kewon White to carry out the killing in exchange for payment. White is accused of shooting Mo3 with a firearm after this agreement.
Beezy, now 33, was arrested on March 20th by Dallas police. Under Texas bail bond laws, defendants can pay 10% of their set bond to a bail bond company, which then covers the remainder.
This is not Beezy’s first legal trouble. In 2021, he was arrested in Collin County on charges of sexual assault, child endangerment, and unlawful weapon possession. Those charges were later dismissed. In 2018, he survived being shot multiple times while inside a car on the Sam Rayburn Tollway in Lewisville.
With his release, Beezy must surrender his passport and wear an ankle monitor.
