Young Scooter Laid to Rest as Community Continues Mourning His Sudden Passing [Video]

The funeral for the 39-year-old rapper was held Monday at St. Phillips AME Church on Candler Road. He will be buried in Walterboro, South Carolina, according to the funeral home. Bailey died on March 28th, his birthday.

According to Atlanta Police, a woman called 911 that night to report a fake emergency at a home on William Nye Drive in Lakewood Heights, where Scooter was celebrating. The caller claimed there were armed men at the house and a naked woman being dragged inside. APD said officers could not confirm those reports upon arrival.

Officers said Scooter tried to flee and severely injured his leg while jumping a fence. The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office ruled his death an accident caused by blood loss.

The woman accused of the false call, 31-year-old Demetria Spence, was arrested and charged with transmitting a false public alarm. She was granted a $7,500 bond under strict conditions.

In the days following his death, hundreds gathered at Bessie Branham Park in Kirkwood to honor Scooter’s legacy.

“He gets so much love because he gave so much and he embodied so much love, he was love,” said Baby Jade, a close family friend and podcast host.

Scooter’s mother, brother, and children attended the vigil, leaning on the strength of the Atlanta community in their time of mourning. His son, Kenneth Bailey Jr., shared a customized chain honoring his father made by Scooter’s friend and jeweler Eliantte.
