A woman accusing Soulja Boy of years of sexual and physical abuse is asking a Los Angeles jury for $73.5 million in damages as his civil trial comes to a close.

The accuser, who filed the lawsuit in 2021, claims she worked as Soulja Boy’s personal assistant beginning in 2018 and endured a violent and traumatic relationship that included rape, beatings, threats, and emotional abuse. During closing arguments on Monday, her attorney Ron Zambrano laid out the allegations in detail, describing what he said was a campaign of terror and control.

How do you put a price on two years of abuse?

The jury in Soulja Boy’s civil sexual battery trial has to figure that out if they find liability.

The woman’s lawyer gave them some numbers in his closing argument, and they added up to $73.5 million.

“If you don’t believe my client, don’t give her a dollar,” Zambrano told the jury. “But if you do believe her, give her everything.”

According to Zambrano, the abuse was relentless. “He raped her, he punched her, he kicked her, he cut her. He choked her. He picked her up and slammed her. He pointed a Draco at her. He locked her in a room. He denied her food. He threatened her and her family,” he said, as his client cried in court.

Jurors were shown graphic text messages allegedly sent by Soulja Boy, including “I hope u die slow,” and “I hope you catch corona, b***h… I should have killed your ass.”

The woman’s legal team is asking for a total of $73.5 million in damages, which includes compensation for physical and emotional suffering, loss of earnings, and punitive damages meant to punish the rapper for what they claim was “two years of torment.”

Zambrano also took aim at Soulja Boy’s courtroom demeanor, accusing him of wearing “fake glasses” and a suit to appear more sympathetic. “It’s an act,” he said. “The act you’re being asked to buy, unfortunately, my client did buy it. That’s why she went back. Please don’t fall for the man sitting over there trying to convince you he’s incapable of the bruises, the cuts, the messages.”

Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Way, has denied the accusations and testified that the woman was not his assistant. While he admitted to having a sexual relationship with her, he called the claims “disgusting” and insisted the lawsuit is motivated by money.

The jury is now tasked with deciding if the rapper is liable and, if so, how much he should pay in damages.
