Cardi B Says New Album is Going to be “Messy” [Video]

It’s been seven years since Cardi B dropped her explosive debut album Invasion of Privacy and fans have been eagerly waiting ever since for album number two. Though she’s released several chart-topping singles in the meantime, a full project has remained elusive.

After promising to drop in 2024 and not delivering, Cardi is now hinting that 2025 might finally be the year. Based on what she just revealed at the 2025 Revolve Festival, it’ll be worth the wait.

While chatting with Billboard at the festival, the Grammy-winning rapper opened up about the creative direction of her long-anticipated sophomore album.

“I feel like my album is messy,” she said. “She’s a messy queen.”

Cardi described the project as unexpected and genre-bending, a blend of familiar energy with a few curveballs.

“There’s going to be things that people do expect from me, and then there’s going to be things that are not expected from me,” she explained. “It’s something that is really not out right now.”

She also revealed that the album will explore themes of heartbreak, healing, and romantic rediscovery.

“It’s a lot of lover girl thing, too,” she said. “I’ve been heartbroken and then I’m loving again and then I’m exploring again… you know what I’m saying?”

Cardi nearly spilled the album’s name, admitting it perfectly reflects the music but held back just in time.

“Damn, I almost wanna say my album’s name because it really represents what it is,” she said, laughing.

As for when exactly the album is dropping? Cardi continues to tease it online with her Bardi Gang.
