Jalen Hurts Dodges Question on Attending White House Visit with Eagles

Jalen Hurts 2025 Time100 Gala

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts is keeping quiet about whether he plans to join his team at the White House next week for their Super Bowl LIX celebration.

While walking the red carpet at the 2025 TIME100 gala in New York City Thursday night, Hurts was asked directly if he would be attending the April 28 visit. His response? An awkward “um,” pause, and a quick glance around. This told fans everything they needed to know.

The Eagles accepted Trump’s invitation last month to celebrate their Super Bowl win over the Kansas City Chiefs. A White House official confirmed in early March that the team “enthusiastically accepted” the invitation.

The visit will mark a departure from 2018, when the team declined a White House appearance following their first Super Bowl victory. That decision came after Trump rescinded the invite amid controversy over players’ national anthem protests.

This time around, team leadership has expressed excitement. Team owner Jeffrey Lurie called the visit “a time-honored tradition,” while head coach Nick Sirianni said he was “really honored” to take part.

“When you grow up, and you hear about, ‘Oh, the championship team got to go to the White House,’ that’s what this is,” Lurie said earlier this month. “I think we’re all looking forward to it.”
