Ye wants a bromance with 50 Cent.
The producer recently expressed his desire to be friends with the legendary New York rapper, sharing his thoughts on Twitter.
“I wish I was friends with 50,” he wrote. “One of my favorite rappers and people.” In the same post, Ye also gave shout-outs to Drake and Balenciaga’s creative director Demna Gvasalia, calling them “kings in their own kingdoms.” The tweet then took an odd turn when Ye added, “But somewhere inside of a trip to nitrous town everybody is laughing and creating together.”
Ye’s admiration for 50 Cent has been up and down. During a recent livestream, Ye claimed that 50 became “25 Cent” when he released “Graduation.” If you recall, on September 11th, 2007, 50 unveiled his “Curtis” album on the same day that Ye released the critically acclaimed project. “Graduation” outsold “Curtis,” a competitive moment that is cemented in hip-hop history. 50 has also taken shots at many of Ye’s movements in the past, previously poking fun at his presidential bid and his social media meltdowns.
