Michelle Obama Addresses Divorce Rumors

Michelle Obama is clearing the air on her rumored split from Barack Obama.

On Thursday’s episode of The Diary of a CEO podcast, Michelle addressed the rumors that she and Barack Obama had split after folks noticed she skipped the funeral of President Jimmy Carter and Trump’s second inauguration. Barack showed up solo, and the internet ran with it.

“If I were having problems with my husband, everybody would know about it,” Michelle said, laughing. “He would know it. And everybody would know it. I’m not a martyr. I would be problem solving in public. ‘Let me tell you what he did.’”

Around the 56-minute mark, she also made it clear that, even though she’s talked openly about the tough moments in their marriage, divorce was never on the table.

“The beauty of my husband and our partnership is that neither one of us was really ever gonna quit at it, ’cause that’s not who we are,” she said. “And I know that about him. He knows that about me.”

As for skipping those events?

“I feel like now I have permission to do what I want to do,” she said. “I think at 61, I’m finally owning my wisdom. I think it takes women until we’re about 60 to be like, ‘I think I know a thing or two.’”
