Diddy has put the finishing touches on his defense team just days before his trial is set to begin.
The Bad Boy Records founder has enlisted a group of highly accomplished legal professionals, led by attorneys Marc Agnifilo and Teny Geragos. Agnifilo has a history of representing clients in complex, high-profile cases, including NXIVM sex cult leader Keith Raniere, pharmaceutical executive Martin Shkreli, former IMF chief Dominique Strauss-Kahn, and Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng. Geragos, a partner at Agnifilo’s firm, collaborated with him on the Raniere case and brings additional experience to the team.
Joining the defense is Brian Steel, best known for representing rapper Young Thug in the ongoing YSL RICO trial. Other members of the legal team include Alexandra Shapiro, Jason Driscoll, and Anna Estevao, all of whom contribute significant expertise in federal litigation.
In a strategic move shortly before the trial, attorney Xavier R. Donaldson was added to the roster on Friday, ensuring Diddy has Black representation on his team. This comes after the departure of Anthony Ricco, the only Black attorney previously on the case, who withdrew in February. Notably, all of the federal prosecutors involved in the case are white women.
Jury selection is scheduled to begin on Monday. Sources indicate that Diddy may still expand his legal team, as he continues to seek the addition of a Black female attorney in advance of the proceedings.
