Disney Announces Plans for Seventh Theme Park in Abu Dhabi

Disney is officially heading to the United Arab Emirates. The company revealed plans on Wednesday to build its seventh theme park, marking its first-ever resort in Abu Dhabi. The new destination will be located on Yas Island, a growing entertainment hotspot just outside the capital city.

Already home to major attractions like the Formula One Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Ferrari World, Warner Bros. World, SeaWorld, and a waterpark, Yas Island has quickly become a global tourism magnet. Disney’s addition aims to take the excitement even further.

This ambitious project comes at a time when Abu Dhabi is seeing record-breaking tourism numbers. Leveraging its world-renowned airlines — Emirates and Etihad Airways — the UAE has positioned itself as a key travel hub, welcoming over 120 million airline passengers through Abu Dhabi and Dubai each year.

While often seen as more refined compared to Dubai’s flashy nightlife and beaches, Abu Dhabi offers rich cultural experiences too. It’s already home to landmarks like the Louvre Abu Dhabi, with more museums currently in development.

By partnering with local developer Miral, Disney hopes to create a resort that blends family-friendly fun with the region’s luxurious style. Details on rides and attractions haven’t been shared yet, but expectations are high for what will surely be a magical addition to Yas Island.
