Gunman Opens Fire on Philadelphia SEPTA Bus, Injuring Three Minors and a Woman

A terrifying shooting on board a Philadelphia bus left three minors and a woman with gunshot wounds.

On Saturday, May 10th, around 6:15 p.m., a man boarded a SEPTA Route 15 bus at North 33rd Street and West Girard Avenue, near Fairmount Park, and allegedly opened fire on a group of teenagers. The shooter reportedly got into an argument with the juveniles sitting at the back before firing shots.

The victims included a 14-year-old boy, two 16-year-old boys, and a 39-year-old woman. Inspector D. F. Pace of the Philadelphia Police Department confirmed that the teens were rushed to the hospital, while the woman received treatment at the scene for a graze wound. He noted that the victims sustained injuries to the back, hand, and foot, but were all stable.

The suspect, believed to be in his 40s, fled the scene, and police are now reviewing bus camera footage to identify him. Approximately 30 people were onboard during the shooting, which was described by Inspector Pace as “very traumatic for all concerned.”

A SEPTA spokesperson called it an “extremely frightening incident” for both passengers and the bus operator. Police are still investigating, and no arrests have been made.
