Diddy may already be preparing to ask for a presidential pardon if his sex trafficking trial does not go his way.
According to a report by Rolling Stone, some of his close associates have been quietly reaching out to officials on Donald Trump’s team since his second term began. Sources say these early conversations are about “making connections with the Trump team” in hopes of securing a pardon.
Diddy’s allies are reportedly pitching the idea that he and Trump are kindred spirits, “two peas in a pod,” who have both been “unfairly targeted” by prosecutors. They’ve also drawn parallels between the sexual assault allegations each man has faced and publicly denied.
Despite the efforts, there’s no indication Trump himself is aware of the pardon push, and he hasn’t commented on Diddy’s case. Still, some senior Trump officials are reportedly aware but are proceeding cautiously given the seriousness of the charges.
A longtime associate of the producer told Rolling Stone, “He’s willing to do anything to get out of jail” and “will do what he has to do” to escape any legal bind. Interestingly, the same source noted Diddy “doesn’t like Trump.”
Even Diddy’s old rival Suge Knight has weighed in, recently saying he thinks Diddy will “be all right” and that Trump will “probably” pardon him if convicted, though Knight added he doesn’t believe Cassie is lying.
Diddy currently faces federal charges including racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking, and transportation for prostitution, and could serve up to 15 years in prison if convicted.
