The streamer dropped the trailer for “Titan: The OceanGate Disaster,” a gripping documentary that dives headfirst into the chilling 2023 implosion of the Titan submersible during a voyage to the Titanic wreckage.
Directed by Mark Monroe, the film promises a raw and unfiltered look at the tragedy that claimed five lives. The trailer sets an ominous tone with the tagline, “The deeper you look, the darker it gets,” and introduces voices from whistleblowers, experts, and former insiders. One expert warns, “It was a mathematical certainty that it would fail,” while another voice delivers a damning character read of OceanGate CEO Stockton Rush: “I thought Stockton was a borderline psychopath.” Another voice alleges, “He wanted fame. To fuel his ego, fame.”
The documentary peels back the layers behind the ill-fated expedition using early company footage, private audio recordings, and firsthand testimonies. It aims to uncover how ambition, oversight, and ignored warnings culminated in one of the most devastating deep-sea disasters in recent memory.
“Titan: The OceanGate Disaster” will make its world premiere at the Tribeca Festival on June 6th, 2025. For those unable to attend the festival, Netflix will begin streaming the film globally on June 11th, 2025.
This documentary is set to reignite conversations about safety, ego, and the dangerous pursuit of prestige in high-stakes adventures.
