Nearly seven years after Kim Kardashian was bound and robbed at gunpoint in a Paris hotel, justice has officially been served, or at least partially.
On Friday, a French court convicted eight out of ten suspects connected to the 2016 heist, handing down prison sentences ranging from three to eight years. However, due to time already served and suspended terms, none of them will actually go back behind bars.
Kardashian testified that she thought she was “going to die” during the ordeal. Per her testimony, she repeatedly told the robbers she had “babies” and needed to “get home to my babies.” Kardashian also said one of the robbers told her to “shut up.”
“I was sure that I was going to be raped,” the media mogul also said during the testimony, per NBC.
She thanked the French authorities in a statement to People.
“The crime was the most terrifying experience of my life,” she said. “While I’ll never forget what happened, I believe in the power of growth and accountability.”
Her legal team added, “It has been a long journey from that terrible night back in 2016…She looks forward to putting this tragic episode behind her.”
Masked men dressed as police stormed her luxury suite during Paris Fashion Week, making off with over $6 million in jewelry. The suspects were arrested in 2017.
