Joy Reid is stepping back into the spotlight, this time with a mic, a camera, and zero filters. The acclaimed journalist and political commentator is launching “The Joy Reid Show,” a new podcast series promising to bring her unshakable voice and sharp perspective to the digital airwaves—starting June 9.
Streaming every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday on YouTube and major podcast platforms, the show will dive deep into politics, culture, and the stories shaping the moment. Produced by Image Lab Media Group and based out of a custom D.C. studio, the podcast gives listeners a more personal, unrestricted side of Reid. It blends smart analysis with her signature wit and no-nonsense approach.
The premiere week is already making waves with big-name guests. Newark Mayor and 2025 New Jersey gubernatorial candidate Ras Baraka appears in a special preview episode airing ahead of the state’s June 10 primary. Comedian and writer Amber Ruffin joins for the official debut episode, and former South African ambassador to the U.S. Ebrahim Rasool is also on the early guest list.
But this isn’t just another interview series. Mondays and Wednesdays are reserved for deep commentary, trending topic breakdowns, and real conversations with newsmakers. Fridays, branded as “Freestyle Fridays,” will be live and interactive, giving listeners a chance to engage with Reid directly—whether through Q&As, commentary, or special guest drop-ins.Reid is also bringing her 160,000+ Joy’s House Substack subscribers into the mix, with plans to expand the show to a five-day-a-week format later this year.“
This is about building community and being honest in a space that lets me fully be myself,” Reid said in the announcement. “I’ve always fought to make sure Black voices, especially Black women, are heard in the news space. Now, I get to do it on my terms, in my voice, with the people.
”With a career that spans decades—from campaign reporting to hosting MSNBC’s “The ReidOut” and “AM Joy”—Joy Reid continues to cement her place as one of the most respected and fearless voices in media.
