The Miami Dolphins and the National Football League are investigating allegations by Dolphins Offensive Tackle Jonathan Martin that he was bullied by Offensive Lineman Richie Incognito. Martin is in his second NFL season and Incognito is a 9th year veteran. ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter tweeted voicemail messages that Incognito sent to Martin:
The NFL and Miami Dolphins have heard the voicemails and have the transcript of the Incognito’s text messages to Martin. Martin left the Miami Dolphins due to an incident at the Dolphins Facility where some members of the offensive line harassed him verbally. Incognito was said to be the “ring-leader” and Center Mike Pouncey was involved. Incognito took to his twitter account to state that he wants his name CLEARED even though this documented information has been released to the public.
This is not your normal Rookie hazing that happens in the NFL. Incognito’s racist and threatening messages cannot be overlooked. Incognito has even coerced over $45,000 out of Martin to pay for strip club bills and a Las Vegas trip. Now for a grown man to pick on another grown man and talk or message him in this manner is absurd. The NFL has to show the upcoming talent that they will not have to deal with this when they are drafted. Send a message to the veterans that this type of hazing or bullying is not accepted.
