“He Thought He Was Going to Die”—Only Survivor of Air India Crash Speaks Out From Hospital Bed [Video]

Tragedy struck the skies above Ahmedabad when an Air India flight went down shortly after takeoff. Wreckage lit up the ground, and social media was soon flooded with clips of smoke, fire—and one shocking sight: a man, dazed and bloodied, walking away from the crash site.

That man, now identified as Vishwash Kumar Ramesh, a British citizen of Indian origin, is the sole survivor of the crash.

Speaking from a hospital bed, Ramesh recounted the horrifying ordeal that unfolded just seconds after the flight began to ascend. “It all happened right in front of my eyes,” he said. “I couldn’t believe I came out alive.”

He remembered the flight freezing mid-air only moments after liftoff, followed by strange green and white lights flickering inside the cabin. Then came the surge of engine thrust—and the chaos that ended in flames and silence.

Trapped but conscious, Ramesh quickly removed his seatbelt and looked for a way out. While one side of the plane had slammed into a wall, his section had landed on what he described as a lower level. A broken door gave him the only chance to crawl out, and he took it.

Inside, he saw flight attendants and passengers—people he called “uncles and aunties”—trapped and caught in the destruction. With smoke and flames overtaking the cabin, going back was impossible. But the other side of the aircraft was completely blocked by a wall, meaning there was likely no other escape route for anyone else.

Miraculously, he was able to stand and walk away—bloodstained but alive.

Authorities continue to investigate what went wrong with the Air India flight. But for now, Vishwash Kumar Ramesh’s survival is being called nothing short of a miracle.
