A Georgia couple has been awarded nearly $2.5 million by a jury after a tragic childbirth turned into an unthinkable legal nightmare.
Jessica Ross went into labor with her first child on July 10, 2023. After hours in the delivery room, the baby reportedly became stuck behind her pelvic bone. What followed was every parent’s worst fear. According to court documents, the obstetrician used such extreme force trying to deliver the baby that the newborn’s head was separated from its body — a gruesome and heartbreaking result of alleged medical negligence.
But the horror didn’t end there.
In a shocking twist, the couple says the same doctor later shared a video of the baby’s autopsy on social media — without their permission. That alleged violation of their privacy added insult to a deeply traumatic injury.
The parents, Jessica Ross and Treveon Isaiah Taylor Sr., took legal action, and a jury agreed with them this week, awarding the pair nearly $2.5 million. The payout was tied specifically to the unauthorized sharing of the autopsy video, not the original medical malpractice — which is the subject of a separate lawsuit.
The couple’s legal team says the case is about more than money — it’s about justice and basic human decency. The trial exposed shocking behavior that no family should ever have to endure.
