R. Kelly’s attorney is pushing back against claims that Joycelyn Savage’s new video defending the singer was created using artificial intelligence.
Beau Brindley, who represents the jailed R&B singer, told TMZ the accusations are completely false. Joycelyn’s parents are absolutely lying and grasping at straws, Brindley said, directly responding to her family’s suggestion that the clip was AI-generated.
Brindley insists there’s no question the video is authentic. He says he spoke to Joycelyn on the phone just before she recorded it and confirmed she told him the same things she later said publicly. Some viewers pointed out that her voice appeared slightly out of sync and that an image of R. Kelly on her shirt seemed to move. But Brindley dismissed those observations.
“There’s zero chance the video was manipulated through AI,” he stated.
He also clarified Joycelyn’s current situation. According to Brindley, she’s living in an apartment near the prison where Kelly is serving his sentence so she can visit him regularly. Those visits are on record, and Brindley says they’re “visibly verifiable.” Regarding her finances, Brindley says Joycelyn is supporting herself and occasionally receives help from friends. Her parents are not involved in her life, and he emphasized that her estrangement from them is her own decision.
This comes after Joycelyn’s mother claimed the family hasn’t seen her in person in six years and expressed growing concerns for her safety.
“It confirms why we’ve been fighting so hard just to make sure she’s okay,” her mom said. “Basically, that’s all we want to know.”
Ultimately, Joycelyn made her stance clear.
“I am not a victim,” she says in the video. “I’ve been with Robert for 10 years. He has been incarcerated for six years, and I have seen him every weekend for the past six years.”
She added, “Please do not believe the lies that my mother and father are coming out here saying about me and Robert. I am not held against my will, I am not a sex slave. I am not brainwashed or any of those crazy lies that were told on me.”
