50 Cent is officially stepping into action star territory. The Hip-Hop legend is taking on the role of Balrog in the new “Street Fighter” reboot and he’s doing it all without a stunt double.

The rapper-turned-actor is joining the ranks of action icons like Tom Cruise and Jackie Chan by insisting on doing his own stunts.

“He’s currently undergoing intense physical training to prepare for the role,” according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Directed by Kitao Sakurai, the mind behind “The Eric Andre Show” and “Bad Trip,” this reboot aims to blend comedy, action, and iconic video game nostalgia. In the film, 50’s character Balrog is portrayed as a disgraced boxer who’s turned enforcer for the villain, bringing grit and muscle to the role.

50 Cent joins a powerhouse cast: Jason Momoa takes on Blanka, Noah Centineo plays Ken, Andrew Koji is Ryu, and Callina Liang steps in as Chun-Li. Orville Peck will portray the mysterious Vega, while WWE star Roman Reigns (Joe Anoa’i) takes on Akuma.

This casting choice places 50 Cent in an elite class of stars who take physical authenticity seriously. Tom Cruise famously performed jaw-dropping stunts in “Mission: Impossible,” while Jackie Chan built an entire career around his daring, often dangerous stunt work.

The “Street Fighter” franchise, which began in arcades in 1987 and exploded in popularity with “Street Fighter II” in 1991, has sold over 49 million copies globally. Filming kicks off in Australia in August 2025, though a release date has not yet been announced.
