ScarLip had a candid moment during her recent appearance on “Way Up with Angela Yee.” The Bronx rapper opened up about an emotional fallout after she stopped financially supporting a close relative.

According to ScarLip, once she signed her record deal, she started regularly sending money to a particular family member.
“Every week I would send this person $1,000, $500, $2,000,” she explained to Yee. At first, it was her way of showing love and support. But as time went on, the constant requests began to wear on her. What made it worse was how this family member would invoke religion to pressure her into giving more, using phrases like “pay your tithes” to justify the demands.
Things took a turn when she finally said no. ScarLip described how that same person, someone she considered to be her “everything,” became furious with her. Despite her recent successes, including releasing a new album and dropping a song with Lil Wayne, she says the relative didn’t even congratulate her.
“They don’t give a f**k because I won’t give them no money,” she said.
She didn’t leave them hanging without options. ScarLip shared that she had offered to fund a business or even pay for school to help create long-term stability. But instead of taking her up on that, the calls for cash kept coming.
“Start a business and I’ll fund it… or I pay for you to go to school…Nothing. They call me still asking for money,” she explained.
She has not detailed who this person is to her, and that individual has not come forward.
