Earlier this summer we reported that the Philadelphia 76ers signed Power Forward Royce White, giving him a chance to play after months of inactivity in the league. However, before his feet could even hit the hardwood, Royce has been waived by the team.
Royce signed with the Houston Rockets his rookie year but due to his anxiety disorder which caused him to miss games and practices, as well as constant clashing with Rockets officials, the team released him to the D-League. His stint there didn’t last long either. Hoping for a fresh start in Philly, White found himself on the chopping block along with Khalif Wyatt, Mac Koshwal and Vander Blue.
White has played in one pre-season game with the Sixers but did not travel with the team to Spain during the pre-season, leading to his exit from the team.
My issue with Royce is that he’s always acted as if Houston did not accommodate him enough and it was their fault. He seldom made efforts to do what HE had to do to make things work. Unfortunately he was a child, with a life time of codling, trying to play a man’s game. Now that the Sixers have released him without playing a season game, I hope he uses this opportunity to mature a little bit.
