Sean “Diddy” Combs will stay behind bars until his sentencing after a federal judge denied him bail. Judge Arun Subramanian ruled Combs must remain detained following his conviction on prostitution charges.
Judge Subramanian explained that bail isn’t an option for those convicted of these specific offenses. He emphasized that Combs poses a danger if released, citing the disturbing evidence of violence against his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura. Critical to the decision was Cassie’s letter — introduced as part of the court record — in which she detailed the domestic abuse inflicted by Combs.

Though Combs’ legal team had acknowledged the violence, the judge pointed to a 2016 hotel video at New York’s InterContinental as particularly damning. That footage, he stated, “starkly depicted” the severity of Combs’ actions. Judge Subramanian noted that Combs’ acknowledgment of the violence didn’t need extra explanation— the video spoke for itself.
The letter from Ventura reinforced the judge’s concern that releasing Combs would endanger those who testified in the case, including Cassie. As a result, bail was flatly denied and Diddy will remain in custody until his sentencing date.
