Diddy may still be behind bars, but his name rang bells in the prison yard after his partial courtroom victory. According to his defense attorney Marc Agnifilo, Diddy got a standing ovation from fellow inmates when he returned to the federal facility following his high-profile verdict.

Speaking to the Associated Press, Agnifilo said, “They all said: ‘We never get to see anyone who beats the government.’”

That praise came after a jury acquitted the music mogul on three serious charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering, both of which carried heavy time and reputational damage. While he was still convicted on two counts under the Mann Act for illegal transportation, the applause shows how rare it is to see someone score any type of win in federal court.

Despite the warm welcome, Diddy’s not home free. Prosecutors are pushing for a minimum sentence of four years, citing federal guidelines. The rap icon has already been in custody for 10 months since his arrest in September 2024. His legal team filed for bail after the verdict, hoping he could be released while awaiting sentencing, but Judge Arun Subramanian denied the request. The court ruled that Diddy’s team didn’t prove he wasn’t a danger to the community.

Agnifilo also gave insight into how he saw the acquittals coming. He noted that once the jury showed hesitation on racketeering, “it means they’re not finding him guilty on trafficking,” since those charges were closely linked.

Now the question turns to what’s next. Will Diddy walk sooner than expected? Or will those two convictions keep him locked down for years? One thing’s for sure: on the inside, he’s earned a level of respect from his fellow inmates.
