T.I. and Tiny Reject MGA’s $1 Offer in OMG Girlz Case, Prepare for New Trial After Judge Slashes Millions

Looks like the legal battle over the OMG Girlz just got another chapter. T.I. and Tiny’s lawsuit against toy giant MGA Entertainment isn’t over yet. Even though a jury awarded $71 million in total damages earlier this year, a judge just slashed $53.6 million of that, eliminating the punitive portion, and left only $17.8 million in place.

Now, the court is calling for a new trial to determine whether MGA’s actions warrant punitive damages at all. Lawyers for T.I. and Tiny rejected MGA’s symbolic $1 offer, signaling they’re not backing down.

“When we took on MGA Entertainment, we stood up for the OMG Girlz but also for something bigger,” the couple said in a statement. “We stood up for every creative who wants to protect their vision and brand from unfair use without recognition and compensation.”

They added, “The OMG Girlz’ lawsuit shows just how hard it is for creatives, especially Black artists and young entrepreneurs, to protect their intellectual property from billion-dollar corporations.”

Although disappointed by the judge’s decision to reduce the award and reopen the case, they remain hopeful.

“If in the end, there is another mini-trial on just the punitive damages, we expect another jury will be similarly offended by MGA’s maliciousness and copying.”

It’s clear this legal fight is about more than just dolls, it’s about protecting Black creativity in an industry that doesn’t always play fair.
