Donald Trump has taken credit for convincing Coca-Cola to sweeten its U.S. formula by swapping high-fructose corn syrup for real cane sugar.
“I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I’d like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them — You’ll see. It’s just better!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Coca-Cola didn’t confirm the full switch but responded positively.
“We admire President Trump’s enthusiasm for our iconic Coca‑Cola brand,” the company said. “More details on new innovative offerings within our Coca‑Cola product range will be shared soon.”
Trump’s love for the beverage is no secret. Known to consume up to a dozen Diet Cokes a day during his presidency, he even had a special button in the Oval Office to summon one. Before taking office, Coca-Cola’s CEO James Quincey gifted him a “Presidential Commemorative Inaugural” Diet Coke bottle.
However, some believe Trump is using the beverage as a distraction. For days, his supporters have called him out for downplaying the infamous Jeffrey Epstein files. He has even called the documents a “scam,” despite promising to release them during his presidential bid.
