Donald Trump has been diagnosed with a chronic but non-life-threatening vein condition after seeking medical attention for swollen legs, the White House confirmed Thursday.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters that Trump, 79, is dealing with chronic venous insufficiency—a condition where the veins in the legs struggle to properly return blood to the heart. While it sounds serious, Leavitt emphasized that it’s “benign and common,” especially in older adults.
The diagnosis came after Trump noticed persistent swelling in his legs and opted for a medical evaluation. The condition is typically managed with lifestyle changes, compression garments, and sometimes medication, but it’s not considered dangerous.
At his age, regular health assessments are part of routine care, and doctors say Trump’s overall health remains stable.
