According to The Wall Street Journal, Pam Bondi informed Donald Trump during a May meeting that his name was listed multiple times in Department of Justice documents related to Jeffrey Epstein. The revelation reportedly came just weeks before the DOJ announced it would not make the Epstein files public, despite previous assurances that the material would be released.
The Journal reports that Bondi, along with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, briefed Trump on the Epstein case during what officials called a “routine briefing.” Sources told the outlet that Trump was also told the records referenced several other high-profile figures and contained unverified claims and hearsay, including mentions of Trump’s past social ties to Epstein.
Being named in the files does not suggest wrongdoing, according to the Journal. Still, the DOJ’s sudden refusal to release the documents has stirred outrage, particularly among Trump’s supporters, many of whom have long demanded transparency regarding Epstein’s network and his high-powered connections.
