British actor Micheal Ward, known for his breakout role in Netflix’s Top Boy, has been officially charged with two counts of rape and three counts of sexual assault by London’s Metropolitan Police. The charges stem from a reported incident involving one woman in January 2023.
The 27-year-old is scheduled to appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court in London on August 28.
Ward has already felt the fallout from the charges. Olivia Bell Management, his UK-based agency, confirmed it has dropped him. “We no longer represent him,” an agency rep told Deadline. Ward is still listed with his U.S. representation at Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
The police investigation is being led by Detective Scott Ware, who emphasized ongoing support for the alleged victim. “Our specialist officers continue to support the woman who has come forward,” Ware said.
Ward gained widespread fame for playing Jamie in Top Boy, starring alongside Kano and Ashley Walters. He also appeared in the acclaimed Small Axe anthology, as well as films like Blue Story, The Old Guard, and Empire of Light.
As the case heads to court, the entertainment industry and fans alike are watching closely to see how this will unfold for one of Britain’s rising stars now facing grave allegations.
