Trump Praises Sydney Sweeney Ad

Trump has once again stirred the pop culture pot — this time throwing his support behind actress Sydney Sweeney’s new ad campaign with American Eagle, while taking direct shots at Jaguar, Bud Light, and Taylor Swift for what he calls “woke disasters.”

Trump called Sweeney’s commercial “the HOTTEST ad out there” and praised her for being a registered Republican, even crediting her conservative alignment for the campaign’s success. “The jeans are flying off the shelves,” he wrote on Truth Social. He encouraged followers to “go get ’em Sydney.”

But then things took a sharp turn. Trump blasted Jaguar’s latest branding campaign as a “total disaster” and accused the luxury carmaker of going “seriously woke.” He cited the recent resignation of Jaguar Land Rover CEO Adrian Mardell as a consequence of the company’s marketing choices. “Who wants to buy a Jaguar after looking at that disgraceful ad?” Trump asked, adding that companies should have learned from Bud Light’s failed campaign last year.

He didn’t stop there. Trump went after Taylor Swift, saying she became “no longer hot” after he called her out on his platform. “She was booed out of the Super Bowl,” he claimed, suggesting her popularity has declined due to her progressive stances. Trump ended his post by saying “being woke is for losers” and encouraged Americans to embrace Republican values instead.

Sydney Sweeney is one of Hollywood’s fastest-rising young stars. Best known for her breakout roles in HBO’s Euphoria and The White Lotus, the 26-year-old has earned praise for her dramatic performances and on-screen presence. Off-screen, Sweeney has quietly made headlines for her conservative background and family ties, which led to online backlash in the past. She’s often tried to avoid political discourse in interviews, but that hasn’t stopped the right from rallying around her. Trump’s Truth Social post is just the latest example of conservatives claiming Sweeney as one of their own.

The American Eagle ad in question features Sweeney modeling denim while celebrating body confidence. But controversy kicked off when some critics accused the ad of having subtle eugenics undertones because of slogans like “great jeans” paired with Sweeney’s blonde, blue-eyed appearance. The brand has since defended the campaign, stating it was about self-expression, not politics or race.

Jaguar’s marketing strategy took a turn with a bold rebrand that featured bright neon colors and futuristic messaging without showing any actual cars. The campaign quickly caught backlash online for being confusing and out of touch. Sales plummeted in Europe and the U.S., and public pressure mounted. Eventually, Jaguar Land Rover CEO Adrian Mardell announced he was stepping down, a move Trump is now taking credit for with his harsh critique of the brand’s direction.

Trump also brought Bud Light back into the conversation, pointing to its major sales drop following last year’s campaign involving a trans influencer. He said it should have served as a warning for brands considering politically charged messaging. According to Trump, Bud Light’s loss in market cap should’ve taught everyone that “woke” marketing doesn’t pay off.

Trump’s jab at Taylor Swift wasn’t random. The pop superstar has been increasingly vocal about her political beliefs in recent years, especially around voting rights and women’s issues. Trump, who previously said he used to like her before she became political, now claims credit for her public “falloff.” Despite no real evidence of declining popularity, he insisted she’s “no longer hot” following his criticism and suggested that the public is turning against her.

Trump’s latest Truth Social post shows just how deep the culture war runs, even down to who’s selling jeans. Sydney Sweeney has become a symbol for what Trump calls “winning” marketing, while brands like Jaguar and Bud Light are used as cautionary tales. Taylor Swift, once again, is positioned as a political and cultural rival.

Trump’s message to brands and celebrities is simple: stay away from politics unless it’s red, white, and Republican.
