Ice Cube’s “War of the Worlds” Reboot Hits Rock Bottom with Zero Percent on Rotten Tomatoes

Ice Cube’s 2025 take on “War of the Worlds” just joined an elite club: movies with a zero percent Rotten Tomatoes rating. Directed by Rich Lee, this version of H.G. Wells’ classic sci-fi story is streaming on Prime Video, but critics and audiences aren’t feeling it.

The film features Cube as a Homeland Security analyst monitoring threats through a computer screen. Even that unique concept couldn’t save it from its clunky execution.

One Rotten Tomatoes user noted the “rampant product placement,” visible multiple times within the first eight minutes. On Metacritic, it’s no better, currently holding a 1.8 user score.

Compared to past versions, like Spielberg’s 2005 hit starring Tom Cruise, this reboot seemingly misses the mark by a galaxy.
