Blac Chyna is choosing to move forward without resentment after calling off her engagement to songwriter Derrick Milano.
She shared details about the breakup in a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, making it clear the decision was mutual and thoughtful.
The relationship ended quietly last month, with Chyna posting a short statement on Instagram. Now, she is explaining the reasoning behind the split. “I just really need to focus on myself and my kids and my spirituality and everything that comes with that,” she said. For her, stepping away was not about conflict. It was about clarity.
Chyna said there was no betrayal, no scandal, and no harsh feelings. “Nothing happened. Nobody cheated.” She made it clear they simply outgrew the relationship and were heading in different directions. “It was mutual and I feel like sometimes in life, people try to hold on to certain things, but I am going in a different direction than Derrick. Like, we are both doing our own things.”
The former couple had once been close friends, and Chyna believes that helped them avoid a bitter ending. “Me and Derrick was friends before,” she said. That foundation, she added, made the breakup easier and healthier.
She reflected on why she chose to walk away when things were still stable. “I feel like it is really healthy too. Sometimes people stay in relationships too long and then that is toxic and then you start to grow this hatred towards the next person when it should not be that way.”
As for what is next, Chyna is not actively looking for another relationship, but she is not closed off to the idea of love. “I do believe my soulmate is out there and I believe that I already met them,” she said. “You know how sometimes they say your soulmate, you have been around them and you have seen them and you just do not know. That is what I am going off of. I am not interested in meeting nobody new.”
While the engagement did not lead to marriage, Chyna sees the outcome as a necessary step for her own growth.
She is focused on her children, her peace of mind, and her spiritual path, leaving the relationship behind with no public drama or regrets.
