The man behind Houston’s Trump-themed burger joints is now fighting to stay in the United States.
Roland Beainy, 28, a Lebanese immigrant, opened several restaurants in the Houston area styled around President Donald Trump’s political brand. But according to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Beainy overstayed his visa and is now in the middle of deportation proceedings.
ICE says Beainy first arrived in 2019 on a temporary visa with a required departure date of February 12, 2024. Instead of leaving, he remained in the country. Officials emphasized that he doesn’t have any immigration protections or special benefits that would prevent his arrest or removal.
On May 16, 2025, ICE officers took Beainy into custody. Less than a month later, on June 13, an immigration judge approved his release on bond while the case plays out.
In a statement, ICE stressed that immigration enforcement applies to everyone, regardless of the kind of business they own or political beliefs they hold. That means a Trump-themed burger shop offers no shield against the same administration’s immigration crackdowns.
For now, Beainy is still flipping burgers in Houston, but his legal fight over whether he can remain in the U.S. is just heating up.
