5 Types of Fake Friends You Should Never Trust

Let’s be honest. Not every woman in your friend group is really your friend. Some are there out of habit, some out of history, and some because you just haven’t figured out how dangerous they really are. If you’ve ever wondered why you keep a certain friend around even though something always feels off, this one’s for you.

Here are five types of women who may be fun to hang with but can’t be trusted—not with your secrets, not with your man, and definitely not with your peace.

1. The Talker She’s sweet, funny, and probably your favorite person to get brunch with, but she can’t hold water to save her life. If you’ve ever told her something and heard it come back from someone else’s mouth, that wasn’t a coincidence. She’s the type who casually drops other people’s tea like it’s small talk. You may think she means no harm, but trust, if she’s talking about them, she’s definitely talking about you. Keep your business to yourself.

2. The Thief This one starts off subtle. She borrows clothes and conveniently forgets to return them. Then it turns into lip gloss, earrings, and somehow… cash. You try not to assume the worst, but you notice every time she’s around, something goes missing. You haven’t caught her red-handed, but your gut knows. She’s the friend you love from a distance, and only meet in public. Never leave your purse or valuables around this one. She might take more than your trust.

3. The Man-Eater You know the one. She’s stunning, charming, and flirty with just about every man in the room—including yours. She’s the kind of friend that you love to go out with when you’re single, but when you’re boo’d up? You start canceling brunch. She’s not necessarily trying to be messy, but temptation is her middle name. If your man is even slightly weak, it’s game over. Keep this one away from your relationship unless you’re ready to fight for your man.

4. The Cheater This friend swears she’s a hopeless romantic, but somehow she always ends up cheating. Whether she’s bored, mad, or just “needed attention,” monogamy is never her strong suit. That wouldn’t be your business—except that if she can lie and sneak around on someone she claims to love, what makes you think she wouldn’t betray you? Don’t ignore the red flags. If she plays her man dirty, your loyalty isn’t safe either.

5. The Serial Liar She lies like it’s a hobby. She lies for fun. She lies when she doesn’t even need to. Her stories never quite add up, and half the time you’re wondering if anything she says is even real. You love her, but you can’t believe a word out of her mouth. Worse, she’ll drag you into her web of lies—asking you to cover for her or twisting your words to make herself look better. She may have a good heart underneath it all, but she’s not someone you should trust with your truth.

At the end of the day, not every friend is meant to stay forever. Some are lessons. Some are liabilities. And some, well… they’re just people you need to keep at arm’s length. Trust your gut. Protect your peace.
