McDonald’s has launched a new sauce designed to complement its chicken menu items and reflect the color of its iconic golden arches.
The Special Edition Gold Sauce combines a “vinegary North Carolina BBQ sauce” with subtle notes of honey, smoke, and mustard.
The sauce is now available nationwide while supplies last.
The new condiment is offered both as a dipping sauce in cups and as a topping for four chicken-based menu items. The Special Edition Gold Snack Wrap features McCrispy Strips, shredded cheese, and lettuce, all drizzled with Gold Sauce and wrapped in a soft tortilla.
For those seeking a more substantial option, the Bacon Special Edition Gold McCrispy Sandwich includes McCrispy Strips topped with Gold Sauce, thick-cut Applewood smoked bacon, and crinkle-cut pickles, served on a toasted potato roll. The Deluxe version adds shredded lettuce and Roma tomatoes for added texture and freshness.
McCrispy Strips themselves are made from white-meat chicken coated in “crispy golden-brown breading” and seasoned with black pepper. Customers can also enjoy the Gold Sauce on the side as a dip.
McDonald’s describes the sauce as a more sophisticated take on Carolina Gold barbecue sauce. Its blend of tangy, sweet, and smoky flavors offers a richer alternative to honey mustard, enhancing the flavor profile of the chain’s popular chicken offerings.
