Deion Sanders’ health battle is far from over.

“Cat’s out of the bag, all right,” Sanders told reporters after Colorado’s 35-21 loss to TCU on Saturday. “I think I’ve got more blood clots. I’m hurting like crazy.”

The pain in his leg is more than just soreness from standing on the sidelines. Sanders explained he’s not getting proper blood flow to his leg, a terrifying complication following his surgery earlier this year. Back in July, the 58-year-old revealed he had been diagnosed with bladder cancer and underwent major surgery to remove his bladder.

Though doctors declared him cancer-free after the procedure, the physical aftermath has been brutal. Sanders now lives with a urostomy bag and ongoing complications that make daily life a battle. Yet, he’s made it clear that he’s not giving up.

“When you hear the word ‘cancer,’ it usually comes with a death sentence. But not for me,” Sanders said in an earlier press conference. “God got me.”

Despite enduring what he described as the worst pain of his life, including screaming in agony on his bathroom floor post-surgery, Sanders sees purpose in his struggle.

“I believe I was chosen to carry this so others could see it’s possible to survive,” he told CNN.

Now, months later and back on the sidelines, Coach Prime continues to lead while quietly fighting for his life off the field.
