Bria Murphy, the eldest daughter of comedian and actor Eddie Murphy, is expecting her first child with her husband Michael Xavier. The couple, who tied the knot in July 2022 in Beverly Hills, made the announcement at the red‑carpet premiere of Eddie’s new documentary “Being Eddie” on November 12, 2025. At the event Bria, 35, wore a long‑sleeved bodycon dress that clearly revealed her baby bump, and she appeared with six of her nine siblings by her side.
This joyful announcement marks Eddie’s third grandchild, following the two daughters of his son Myles. Bria and Michael first became engaged in December 2021. Bria had posted at that time “My heart, my best friend, my forever. I love you, always.” Michael’s Instagram caption then read “Forever my love.” Their wedding brought together 250 close friends and family members and included Bria’s father walking her down the aisle.
Eddie, who shares ten children with several different partners, has often expressed pride in his children’s character and achievements. At Bria’s 2020 art show opening he said, “I’m glad that people get to see how talented she is. We’ve known for years how talented she is. It’s exciting to see her stuff up on the walls… I’m having all of those proud parent feelings.”
With the new baby on the way, the Murphy family is entering an exciting chapter of growth and celebration.
