While at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards, Nessa of MTV’s Girl Code and Hot 97 talked to Baller Alert about her boyfriend Colin Kaepernick of the San Francisco 49ers, and his decision to sit during the National Anthem.
“This is something that is important and I think that we should use this to have open dialogue and take steps to make this country a better place to live in,” said Nessa.
Nessa also reveals that she and Colin never spoke of him protesting the National Anthem prior and that she did not know it was coming, however this isn’t anything new for Kap.
“Colin truly feels this,” said Nessa. “He lives this and it’s from his heart. That’s what makes this so beautiful. This wasn’t pre-planned. Being a good person is in your soul. When someone asks you how you feel about tragedies that are going on, you have to be honest.”
