The Rams recently moved back to Los Angeles, and along with that big move, it appears the team has taken on a whole new attitude that’s just as big and bold.
In one of the biggest trades in NFL draft history, the Los Angeles Rams have acquired the first overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft from the Tennessee Titans. It was announced on Thursday morning that the Rams traded with the Titans for the first overall draft pick, along with the Titans’ fourth and sixth round picks, in exchange for two of the Rams’ second round picks (#43 and #45) and their third round pick (#76). The Titans will also receive the Rams’ first and third round picks in 2017.
The Rams are reportedly looking to draft a quarterback with their first pick. They currently have Case Keenum and Nick Foles as their number one and number two quarterbacks, respectively, but the team clearly does not think their supply of quarterbacks is enough to compete with the likes of Carson Palmer and Russell Wilson in the NFC West. The top-ranked quarterbacks in this year’s draft are Carson Wentz from North Dakota State and Jared Goff from University of California – Berkeley, so the Rams are likely to draft one of the two. However, sources say the Rams are also possibly looking at Paxton Lynch from the University of Memphis.
Meanwhile, the Titans, who were able to draft Marcus Mariota at #2 last year, will have enough draft picks over the next two years to completely rebuild and solidify the team on both offense and defense.
What do you think of this blockbuster trade?
