Five years ago, Jennifer Storrar and her boyfriend, Troy Reddington, put together a time capsule filled with memories of their relationship and future goals. The couple buried the capsule during one of their annual camping trips to an island.
According to Reddington, he decided then that when the time was right, he would dig up the original capsule and replace it with an updated capsule containing an engagement ring. For the 25-year-old November 2015 was the right time, though he wouldn’t be able to act on it until the summer. “I couldn’t get across the lake. I couldn’t do anything with it in the wintertime.”
In May, Reddington took a three hour drive to the camp site and then kayaked to the island. After finding a spot close to where the original capsule was, he dug a hole and buried a peanut butter jar containing a ring and a note.
Days later Reddington invited Storrar back to the island and his plans were put into motion. As Storrar found the capsule Reddington got down on one knee and proposed.
While the couple never found their original capsule, they now have a new memory to savor.
