Quando Rondo says he’s done going tit for tat, less than a month after a federal jury in Los Angeles acquitted Lil Durk of plotting the 2022 shooting that killed Quando’s cousin. Durk is still behind bars, though, waiting on a second federal trial that won’t start until next summer.
In an Instagram Story on October 7, Quando wrote, “Today the day I’m not going tit for tat anymore I ain’t begging to fix nothing.” He never mentioned Durk by name.
The beef between their camps goes back almost six years.
November 6, 2020
King Von, the Chicago rapper signed to Durk’s OTF label and one of his closest friends, was shot and killed outside Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta after a fight broke out between his group and Quando’s. Police also exchanged gunfire with the groups that night, and three people died. Von was 26.
Quando’s associate Timothy “Lul Tim” Leeks was arrested the next day and charged with felony murder. Prosecutors dropped the charge in August 2023 before Leeks was ever indicted. Quando was never charged.
June 2021
Durk’s brother, Dontay “DThang” Banks Jr., was shot and killed outside a nightclub in Harvey, Illinois. His death would later become part of a separate federal case against Durk.
August 19, 2022
Quando was targeted in a shooting at a gas station near the Beverly Center in Los Angeles. He survived. His cousin, Saviay’a “Lul Pab” Robinson, did not. Prosecutors later alleged the attack was revenge for King Von.
October 2024
Federal prosecutors unsealed an indictment charging five men, Kavon Grant, Deandre Wilson, Keith Jones, David Lindsey and Asa Houston, with murder for hire. Prosecutors said the group flew from Chicago to San Diego and drove to Los Angeles using money Durk provided. Hours later, on October 24, Durk was arrested in South Florida. He pleaded not guilty and was denied bond.
December 2024
Quando was sentenced to 33 months in federal prison after pleading guilty to conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute marijuana. That case had nothing to do with Durk, Von or the Los Angeles shooting.
2025
Durk’s trial was pushed back multiple times. Prosecutors said they would not seek the death penalty, and his attorneys’ bid to get him out on a multimillion dollar bond package failed.
May 2026
Quando’s sentence was cut by five months, and on May 27 he was moved from FCI Edgefield in South Carolina into community confinement in Atlanta. The Bureau of Prisons lists his release date as November 11, 2026.
June 2026
Prosecutors added new charges accusing Durk of leading what they call the “Banks Gang Enterprise” and tying him to the January 2022 killing of Stephon Mack in Chicago, which the government says was retaliation for DThang’s death. The judge ruled the charges came too late to fold into the murder for hire case and split them off for a separate trial. Durk has pleaded not guilty.
August 24, 2026
Opening statements began in Durk’s murder for hire trial in downtown Los Angeles, with a prosecutor telling jurors Durk was “consumed with revenge” for King Von’s death. Prosecutors leaned on cooperating witnesses, including Keith “Flacka” Jones, who pleaded guilty to Robinson’s murder, and Kavon “OTF Vonnie” Grant, who also pleaded guilty. Durk’s lawyers called them admitted killers who pointed at the rapper to avoid life sentences. Ye and Machine Gun Kelly showed up in the courtroom to support him.
September 11, 2026
After three days of deliberations, the jury found Durk not guilty on all five counts, including conspiracy to commit murder for hire and stalking resulting in death. He broke down crying as the verdict was read.
His codefendants did not get the same result. Wilson and Lindsey were acquitted of murder for hire but convicted of stalking charges, including stalking resulting in death, and their lawyers are fighting those convictions.
Late September 2026
The acquittal did not send Durk home. His second trial, on the racketeering murder and firearms charges, was set for October 5 but has been pushed to August 30, 2027. He’ll be tried alongside Wilson, Lindsey and Houston.
Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald has set a bond hearing for November 4, when Durk’s attorneys will argue for his release. Quando is scheduled to finish his sentence one week later.
